The Men’s and Women’s Basketball and Swimming teams enjoyed a competitive Christmas break with games and meets against some difficult competition.
ONU’s Men’s basketball team had six games over their break and four games since the start of the semester. In the first few days of break, they upset No. 13 Trinity International University 99-83 and defeated Ohio Christian University 99-77. After a week at home for Christmas, the men traveled to Florida for a few days where they faced Keiser University and Edward Waters University, whom they defeated 95-89 and lost to 75-70, respectively. After the new year, the Tigers have played in six games that they have split with three wins and losses each, including victories over the likes of Robert Morris University and Judson University and losses to schools such as No. 18 Saint Thomas University and Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) rival Saint Xavier University. Their next home game will be on Saturday the 27th at 3 pm against Saint Ambrose University
The Lady Tigers basketball team played four games over the holiday break and four since returning to campus this semester. The break did not start well for them as they lost three games in a row to Taylor University, No. 9 Dakota Wesleyan University, and Arizona Christian University. However, they lady tigers bounced back after that with four straight wins, including over Holy Cross University and Indiana University-South Bend, before falling to CCAC rival No. 4 Saint Xavier University at home. Their next home game is on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 1 pm against Saint Ambrose University.
The Men’s and Women’s swim teams did not compete over the break, but they have each had two meets since the start of the semester against stiff National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competition. On Jan. 12, the men’s team was able to defeat both NCAA division two Lewis University and NCAA division three Chicago University. Sadly, the women’s team fell to University of Chicago but soundly defeated Lewis University. However, this previous Saturday saw both the men and women fall to NCAA division one University of Illinois. These next two weekends are packed for the Tigers as they prepare for NCAA University of Illinois meet this coming Friday and Saturday; then the Tigers will be competing at home against Wheaton University on the weekend of February 2nd.
Be sure to show up and support all of your Tiger teams as they compete.
