Hello GlimmerGlass readers! Thanks for checking us out!
As we head into a new school year (that also happens to be my last year…yikes!) I can’t help but feel a sense of “new.” Maybe I’m just feeling the newness of this executive position. Perhaps, in my senior status, I’m noticing more the new freshman class, reflecting back on when I myself stumbled onto this campus in the same position. Maybe I’m just excited about all the new changes and possibilities we’re hoping to implement at the paper this year. Regardless, as I end my career at Olivet, I don’t want to be afraid of noticing and embracing the new. New friends, new classes, new jobs. New relationships, new challenges, new doubts, new possibilities. It’s easy to focus on the end, (believe me, I know) but can I start this semester by challenging you to seek out the new? Join me in this challenge. Don’t waste the days. Don’t let this time pass by without it changing you, without you seizing it. Let’s not just be students who simply push through to get to the end; let us be followers of Christ who strive to make things new.
Our God is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. (Revelation 1:8) As the seasons of life change for us, He is ever-constant, with us through each moment. The old and the new; the end and the beginning. This is something I am living into as I prepare to both start and end my final semester of college.
Maybe I should actually talk about the newspaper, huh? Well, in the spirit of new, we’ve got a lot of new faces on our team this year, and I am so excited for their enthusiasm and fresh perspective. I encourage you to head over to our staff page and check out this year’s staff! If you’re interested in applying to work for the GlimmerGlass, please head to our application page. We would love the opportunity to meet and work with you!
If you want to find us, our office has moved! We are no longer in the basement of Ludwig, as you might have noticed. The new office is located on the first level of the Communication building. We’re excited about our new space!
