Junior, Jimmy Southerland, was on the side of the improbable this week.
Out of 16,000 participants nationwide, 15 were selected for Sodexo’s Epic Adventure National Prize Sweepstakes. One of them was Southerland.
Every quarter, Sodexo hosts a sweepstakes competition similar to this throughout their 600 locations nationwide; however, this was the first time someone from Olivet has won anything from the nationwide events.
The Epic Adventure Sweepstakes, according to Sodexo is a promotion that pushes chefs to expand their horizons on the foods they make and allows students to take part in different events. These events were put into place push students’ boundaries on their senses and limits.
The Epic Adventures prize was a choice of one of many gift sets, and Southerland chose the $575 Best Buy gift card. Recently engaged, his fiancé joked that she will probably spend the prize money before he will be able to.
The official presentation of the award to Southerland occurred this past Friday, March 24 at 11:00 AM in the Ludwig dining hall.
Sodexo’s next sweepstakes is called “Spring Forward Sweepstakes.” Anyone is allowed to enter from any of Sodexo’s managed campuses in the United States. This time, four winners will be chosen, and the grand prize consists of a $250 Visa pre-paid card as well as a $2,500 donation to a charity of the winner’s choice.
