WASHINGTON – Though the U.S supported-Cuban social network “ZunZuneo” is inactive, the government has come under scrutiny concerning why it was created, Voice of America reports.
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) allegedly funded the social site using private corporations.
The program was a legal development project and not a covert operation and was designed to aid democracy advocates and organize protests according to USAid and the White House.
It was unknown to “ZunZuneo” users that the site was developed by the U.S government.
