Ukraine says will not accept annexation of Crimea

Ukrainian officials vowed to “never accept” the Crimea region annexation by Russia, CNN reports.

Interim Ukrainian President Oleksandr Turchynov​ is still attempting to diplomatically deal with Russia, but Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseny Yastenyuk believes there is a “strong possibility” Russia will invade despite the sanctions being levied against them.

“I still believe that there is only on solution of this crisis, a peaceful one,” Yastenyuk said. “But we offer peace, and Russia offers war.”

The sanctions target Russian lawmakers and officials, not the country as a whole.

The United States announced sanctions on 11 Russians while E.U. sanctions 21.
