Cold temperatures could linger into mid-March for the Chicago area

CHICAGO — Below normal temperatures and snow are here to stay, Chicago Tribune reports.

Temperatures are expected to drop below zero over the next three nights, with a potential snow storm in the forecast for next week.

This is only the most recent in a series of below average temperatures this season, making this winter the third coldest winter in 143 years.

If temperatures do reach the expected lows, Chicagoans are likely to see a 129-year-old record for the most number of day below zero broken.
